Rhiannon’s Pick for Today….

Rhiannon says:

I absolutely love this outfit..!!! I adore the modernized Victorian style.. it's ultra feminine.. edgy.. interesting and elegant.. The short length of the dress gives it a sexy quality.. allowing you to dress it up with cool tights.. knee highs or just going bare..!!!

Rhiannon says:
I am a huge fan of big hats and tight turtlenecks… This look is extraordinarily sexy and sophisticated…
Pair this up with some tailored black pants and stilettos and you're perfect for a night on the town..!!!

I adore this outfit..!!! It's great for autumn.. The yellow dress is a gorgeous color for just about any skin tone.. The hat and fur vest are a wonderful touch for the colder seasons…
Of course.. the knee highs and ankle booties make this not just adorable.. but a little sexy too…

Happy Birthday to Me….

Happy Birthday to Me….

For all my children.. my favorite birthday present for them.. is a birthday cake…

Sounds simple.. maybe boring and I don't even make them myself…

I don't live where they live and it is always a culinary adventure to discover the best of their local cake options… Sometimes it is a childhood favorite and sometimes we try something new…

Buying a present for them is always a guessing game with mixed results.. The cake is always a hit and this way it is the closest thing to being at the party…

So.. for my birthday.. why not..?

Cristina's Restaurant in Ketchum/Sun Valley is always my favorite source when I am home… When you describe to Cristina exactly what you want.. she always "hit's it out of the park"…

This year I wanted yellow cake infused with lemon and thick coconut buttercream frosting…

Perfect again..!!! The cake was moist.. the buttercream was light and luscious and the coconut was toasted..!!! The perfectly festive decorations were celebratory in the extreme..!!!

To add to the effect.. since it was Day of the Dead.. we surrounded the cake with skulls carved from vintage billiard balls…

Add a custom hat from my collection.. and friends to share the celebration.. and all I can say is "Happy Birthday to me"..!!!

Doc Martins; the ultimate tomboy accessory, they not only say I'm cool but I'm rock star cool!

Yes, Miley Cyrus was wearing them while swinging around in her now infamous video but these boots  have been around the fashion world for decades and a pair will  actually last that long too…

Edouard Nantas-Gaertner at Boa Gallery….

Edouard Nantas-Gaertner at Boa Gallery….

Last night I attended "Order Remains", a wonderful show at Boa Gallery in West Hollywood.

The gallery is perfectly located, in the chicest district on Melrose Avenue, a few blocks east of the Pacific Design Center (the Blue Whale) and right next to both Urth Cafe and Rag and Bone.

The show was quite symbolic and, at first glance, very reminiscent of Warhol's work and 1960's rebellion. Yet, when one looks deeper, it is actually an homage to all the veterans of the US Armed Forces.

The artist, Edouard Nantas-Gaetner, is a handsome Frenchman as intriguing as his work. He described his intent to create work to give honor to those who died for their country.

His process is an interesting one, painting the back of of actual American Flags and allowing the paint to seep through.  This flag is then turned around and streched onto a canvas.
